Can anyone help me understand how this might have happened.

Friend has suddenly seen a document appear in her documents folder on her iPad.

It's clearly a draft of a communication written by her solicitor concerning her and intended for a third party.

It's not an email.

I don't understand how this can have happened.

Could it be that the solicitor has inadvertently clicked something while saving the file and the cloud has shared it with the client to whom the document relates?

Anyone offer an explanation?

I can't, but I'm sure ChatGPT could, if you ask it!

With Windows 11, you can share documents, eg with work colleagues, via a setting.

Probably it's the same with iPads etc and the solicitor has accidentally or deliberately shared it with your friend?

I'm sure the solicitor can explain it if asked. Hopefully it wasn't an accident!

I had a similar experience a few years ago when a relative said she had seen a letter that I had sent to a solicitor come up on her iPad.  I don't have any apple devices so it can't have been that our devices were synched.  I tried to find the document on her iPad shortly after and couldn't find it again.  It was very odd and we never got to the bottom of it so if anyone can explain it, I'd be really interested too.

Definitely sent in error .Caused huge upset .

Oh dear 😮

That's very poor.

I hope the solicitor in question is more careful in other aspects of their job ......

In that case, I assume the solicitor realised they had shared the letter by mistake and then somehow reversed the sharing?

I don't know if that is possible, but it's the only explanation I can think of.

Also, maybe it's  possible for Windows and Apple documents to be shared between the two systems?

Because documents produced in one system can be viewed in another, otherwise people would only ever be able to communicate with people using the same system?

But I'm sure there are people on here who can confirm or otherwise, as I'm just making assumptions.

    • Shame, that's a bit boring. At least the Poundland fulfilled the need of cheap basic toiletries.
