You've conflated a major incident with LTNs?  That's machavallian.  I'm impressed 😵‍💫

At the Finches fire last week there were a lot of emergency vehicles  Including the SPG.  But no cops with weapons (I used to work near where the SPG were stationed).  When there are major incidents police from other boroughs are called in with such vehicles.  I can't remember the name of the vehicles bringing cops in.

The way they were heading, towards the East bound South Circular, and on lights and sirens, wouldn't I think suggest that. I have lived on Underhill for close to 40 years, but it has not formed part of an emergency route until very recently, nor have we had rush hour queues until the LTN introduction. Despite the fact that it is a bus route much of it is residential and doesn't support speeding traffic safely. It's not a route I would chose to put 5 speeding police vans in convoy unless there was no alternative in accessing the A205. Which there now mainly isn't.

Palace were at home last night, kicked off at 19.45

They wouldn't have needed to go through Underhill on sirens and lights at four in the afternoon for a seven forty five kick-off in a 5 van convoy. With a sixth van following about 5 minutes later again on siren and lights.

My apologies. The timing of your original post suggested it was after 6pm, which would fit with them herding away supporters onto the train at London Bridge and trying to get to Selhurst station to escort them to the ground.

could be related to the three arrests yesterday.

Without knowing, it is just speculation

"All three men were arrested on suspicion of assisting a foreign intelligence service, contrary to section 3 of the National Security Act (NSA), 2023 and they were taken to a police station in London." (Met News)

No problems... That number of vans would be consistent with football issues. And if it had just been one vehicle I might have considered the timing was consistent with rushing to get back for refs - when I worked in the City the 4.00pm siren rush to Wood St nick was a regular occurrence. But 5 in convoy?!

It was a bit of a jump by me from Cyclemonkey seeing a similar presence at London Bridge.

Larnaca wouldn't have brought a huge amount of fans, but it was the first time Palace have hosted a competitive European tie. There's the issue of Northern Cyprus and heightened media interest around footy because of the Villa Maccabi game at the moment, so that may have had a bearing on the scale of the operation.

It does seem unlikely if it was at four o'clock, though.

Perhaps they'd been warned of a Spetznaz squad  planning to rescue them and were taking them to Croydon nick for security's sake.

    • Just adding that the area is near Grove vale, east dulwich. Around copleston, avondale, oglander, Ivanhoe. The area missing from is between bellenden which is se15, borders with SE22. Also to bump up
