malumbu
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd7rg7wjvgvo I also consider what she said was racist, but worse, unnecessary designed to stir up conflict. The advertisers are free to use whoever they want to sell their product. I'm quite happy for them to depict multiracial Britain, or gay/trans friendly (as per London Underground), disability aware etc etc. From time to time I'll see a more traditional product where everyone in the ad is white. So?? 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/369047-is-sarah-pochin-toast/ Share on other sites
Insuflo
She’s not just toast, she’s M&S toast. I wish she was but sadly, probably not. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/369047-is-sarah-pochin-toast/#findComment-1724901 Share on other sites
malumbu
I assume that GB News has adverts. Wonder if there is any specification on the types of products and services and a condition on racial and other representation. malumbu
Funny, people queuing up to denounce Starmer and Rayner, yet virtually silent when a right wing politician does something wrong. I'm giving Starmer credit as not being quite yet right wing, but working on it. 1 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/369047-is-sarah-pochin-toast/#findComment-1725075 Share on other sites
Sephiroth
Absolute crickets starmer is pretty useless and clearly unpopular. But it’s hard to quite fathom why when compared to his peers should Farage get elected he will be even more useless, deeply unpleasant and wi destabilise the country in all manner of ways. But people will still give him a pass they won’t starmer see also: Trump vs Biden 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/369047-is-sarah-pochin-toast/#findComment-1725090 Share on other sites

Whereas Starmer sort of fades into the background. Sephiroth
Definitely that’s part of it but a) loads of historically popular leaders were chrisms vacuums and b) people can now see where voting for “charismatic” people like Johnson and Trump gets them Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/369047-is-sarah-pochin-toast/#findComment-1725158 Share on other sites

There is a name for that, which I knew many decades ago but can't now remember. Earl Aelfheah
I can’t bear the media “is this racist comment racist” angle taken to reporting it. I feel like she’s a useful out rider for Farage to test how far they can take their rhetoric - it’s not the first time she’s said things that cross over the line. Overt racism is becoming far more commonplace and it’s deeply concerning. 2 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/369047-is-sarah-pochin-toast/#findComment-1725358 Share on other sites
