I also consider what she said was racist, but worse, unnecessary designed to stir up conflict.  The advertisers are free to use whoever they want to sell their product.  I'm quite happy for them to depict multiracial Britain, or gay/trans friendly (as per London Underground), disability aware etc etc.

From time to time I'll see a more traditional product where everyone in the ad is white.  So??

Absolute crickets

starmer is pretty useless and clearly unpopular.  But it’s hard to quite fathom why when compared to his peers

should Farage get elected he will be even more useless, deeply unpleasant and wi destabilise the country in all manner of ways. But people will still give him a pass they won’t starmer

I wouldn't call it charisma exactly, but is it  something about the "in your face" nature of Farage and Trump's personalities?

Whereas Starmer sort of fades into the background.

Definitely that’s part of it

but a) loads of historically popular leaders were chrisms vacuums and b) people can now see where voting for “charismatic” people like Johnson and Trump gets them

They can, but it's very hard for people to admit they were wrong, so they tend to close their eyes to it.

There is a name for that, which I knew many decades ago but can't now remember.

I can’t bear the media “is this racist comment racist” angle taken to reporting it.

I feel like she’s a useful out rider for Farage to test how far they can take their rhetoric - it’s not the first time she’s said things that cross over the line.

Overt racism is becoming far more commonplace and it’s deeply concerning.
