sophie_d Posted yesterday at 11:41 Share Posted yesterday at 11:41 (edited) Please be cautious of a woman walking two Border Collies off-lead on Peckham Rye. When my husband encountered her she shouted to warn him that one of them “didn’t like puppies.” Unfortunately, before he could react, her dog attacked our 6-month-old puppy. As a result, we are now currently up to £1,000 in vet bills; three of his newly grown adult teeth had to be removed so he is missing 3 of his 4 front teeth now, and he has been left with a hole in the bone of his palate which needs to be monitored to see if it will heal. My kids are devastated and the puppy ( who we have been training really well so isnt badly behaved or agro with dogs ) is very unwell. I really wish that dogs known to be aggressive, or who do not reliably respond to recall, were kept on a lead to prevent incidents like this Edited yesterday at 12:06 by sophie_d i got a fact wrong - want it to be correct 6 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/371222-please-be-careful-of-border-collie-off-lead-in-peckham-rye/ Share on other sites
NewWave Posted yesterday at 12:16 Share Posted yesterday at 12:16 (edited) This is awful..I'm so sorry to hear about your poor Pup. And I totally agree its downright ignorant of owners to let dogs with known behavioral issues and agression towards other dogs (or their owners) to walk the dogs off lead. I'm really upset and angry about this. Do you have this woman's contact details? These are probably the last things on your mind at the moment while you are looking after your poor puppy, but firstly, the dog who attacked is clearly both dangerous and out of control. Can it be reported to the police? Secondly, surely the owner is responsible for your vet bills? I do hope your puppy recovers quickly and so do you and your husband and children. It must have been really traumatic for all of you. Some people just shouldn't have dogs if they don't know how to train them. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/371222-please-be-careful-of-border-collie-off-lead-in-peckham-rye/#findComment-1730067 Share on other sites
Angelina Posted yesterday at 12:48 Share Posted yesterday at 12:48 (edited) please report this to the police - were there any witnesses? She should face charges. the owner should not allow dogs off lead - I'm so sorry this has happened. It would be good if you can identify her - are there cameras - in the cafes around? - follow her, find her address and report her. https://www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/ac/animal-crime/ also report to the park wardens so they can be found Your Local Council: Contact them to report issues in parks or public areas, especially if you know the dog or owner, as they investigate under local bylaws and the Dangerous Dogs Act. https://www.gov.uk/control-dog-public/report-a-dog Edited yesterday at 12:49 by Angelina 3 2 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/371222-please-be-careful-of-border-collie-off-lead-in-peckham-rye/#findComment-1730068 Share on other sites
