Our Christmas Programme – the Finale after a great year. The (in)famous Christmas Lights ride on 23rd, then Werner’s Boxing Day in the City ride, and of course still time to head to Spitalfields with Amanda on the 20th
Meet at Southwark Gateway Needle, London Bridge at 5pm for a 2 hour ride. Out though the Covent Garden area and then wind through the West End (Regents St, Carnaby St etc). Rumours of mulled wine by the tree in Trafalgar Square. Finish at the Aldwych. There will be a led ride back to London Bridge for anyone going that way. It will be dark. There will be lots of traffic including every tour bus available. There will be loads of pedestrians all over the place. There will be garishly decorated bicycle rickshaws. It is horrendous. But it is also great fun. Make sure your lights are fully charged. Then decorate your bike, lots of fairy lights please.  Put on that red cycling jacket with the white trim.  Only rule is – keep up. Do not lose sight of the group. Your ride leader will be Werner with Jamie and Bruce attempting to keep everyone safe and together. See you there!  Report and photos from 2024.
10am start. Southwark Gateway Needle, London Bridge. Werner leading a short route on very quiet streets through the City   Think you know the City well?  Guarantee you will ride a cut through you never knew or pass a piece of public art you had missed. Finish around 12.00 back at London Bridge. Note, rarely over-subscribed so if you feel like a ride at the last minute on Boxing Day, just turn up.
General
Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. These rides are part of a regular programme of (mostly Saturday) rides organised by Southwark Cyclists, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/
Note. Ride reports, often with photos and route maps, are posted to the Southwark Cyclists web site, Yearly index at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2025/
Future/provisional ride ideas can be viewed on our planning spreadsheet

    • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
    • Just be careful to know exactly what they cover and the limits. i use Many Pets and Medivet, as I think one of the vets is exceptionally good. Some of the NHV are, but I’ve had a couple I’ve not liked at all.  I need consistency and to feel that they actually care more about the animals than the money.
    • I haven't used them myself but I noticed recently that "Snoots" in Forest Hill is going unlimited primary care for £33/month, so basically a subscription. Easy access on the 176 from East Dulwich. I have no idea what it includes so read the contract! It's a chain but only 5 branches so not a mega corporate. 🤷‍♂️ https://www.snootsvet.com/find-us
