It depends how the problem was investigated, which might not mean testing the scales.

One item half price on the shelves in Sainsburys this morning, but full price at the till One has to ask how common is this?

I never cheek my receipt at Sainsbury's, only use it to get out the gate! maybe worth a look now and then?
