Elon Musk's 'X', rapidly spreads misinformation, hate speech, harassment and enables the creation and distribution of deepfakes. It is in my opinion, having a malign influence on society. Recently it has been reported that 'Grok' (it's AI function) allows people to create sexualised images of children. It is disgraceful that the UK government isn't taking any action to regulate the platform, in the absence of their putting reasonable controls in place themselves. At the very, very least, the UK government and our MPs should not be actively supporting 'X' by using it themselves. If you agree, I would encourage you to write to Ellie Reeves demanding some action (she posts regularly on the platform).

or ANY governments really - not just a UK problem

But it's all tied in with this endless entanglement with American products and services and the Trump administration where everyone knows that as soon as you do take action (even pulling away in a vehicle) sees way out of proportion response

On a personal level I left twitter over a year ago - it was already filling u p with bots and Musk's own algorithms and felt increasingly like a nazi bar - so I left. But way too many people think it's just like it was with a few more ads and where everyone else is so.... their own worldview gets warped as well. So it's not JUST a government problem

I agree - but it's where everyone else in their circle is. All the other MPS, journos etc - they all still exist on there (some finger-wagging at "liberals" to come back as the space isn't the same without them) so I guess the fear is if they don't all jump at the same time there will be... I dunno. What would actually be so bad?

But paralysis/habit seems to be main obstacle. Plus an inability to acknowledge when something/anything changes so fundamentally it's no longer what it was.

    • Loving the arm chair speculation on here  Blimey how long before this gets spun out to be a drug dealer welding a sawn off whilst driving away from a smash and grab at the coop cash machine flipped his car and landed on a bollard type post  Where's the green cross code man when you need him ?
    • If you haven't already watched this totally shocking docudrama on Channel 4 then make sure you watch it and tell everyone you know to watch It It lays bare the scandalous, harmful and lethal  (in some cases) behaviour of the water companies since privatisation.  I for one didn't realise that the water companies pay the regulator/environment agency to regulate them in one mega conflict of interest.   This is as shocking as the post office/postmasters scandal with even more far reaching consequences.
    • We have been going to Franklins for many years. On the whole we have found both the food and service extremely good,  and good value for money, but there have been one or two low points, including unfortunately a very expensive but disappointing  meal with friends which I was paying for. I think it may depend on who is in the kitchen. We had a really excellent meal from their Christmas menu before Christmas this year, which for the quality of the food and cooking we didn't feel was expensive at all. I think it would be a real shame if it was turned into a pub. It isn't that kind of place. That's why we like it.
