b81
HiyaI'm looking for a nanny for my two children but am unsure what rates I should expect to pay?My little boy has previously been attending nursery but I have just had a second and think a nanny might be more economical when I return to work.Advice would be very much appreciated!Cheers Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37241-nanny-advice/ Share on other sites
Saffron
London living wage is around ?8/hr, and minimum wage is just over ?6/hr. Expect to pay more for a more experienced nanny, or a nanny with special qualifications. A nanny share might be a good way to save money. We currently do a mix of private nursery/nanny. I find this gives us good flexibility and value for money. Good luck! xx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37241-nanny-advice/#findComment-685818 Share on other sites
alieh
Just make sure you account for the employers taxes, NI on top of that, which you remit direct to government. It's about another 40%! There are many nanny tax calculators online that will tell you this amount. motorbird83
The London Living wage is 8 gross. Keep in mind that nanny pay tends to be quoted net so the two aren't comparable unless you look at the taxes you pay for your nanny. 8 net to a nanny as another poster indicated is more or less equivalent to 11 gross. That really confused me at first. The advice I've had is to agree a gross salary with your nanny in the contract so any changes to tax law don't hit you.Good luck! alieh
Yes that's true about London living wage being ?8 gross but I've never seen a full time nanny in this area asking ?8 gross. In fact I haven't seen many at less than ?10 net per hour! Maybe just me though! LalKJ
Agree with Alieh, having just been through the nanny hiring process, we didn't see anyone for interview that wasn't requiring ?10 net per hour.
