There is a spate of tyre slashings on at least two roads.  This has been going on for a number of weeks.  Obviously this is being reported to the police.

It's not specific types of cars ie high end/prestige, but old and new alike.  It's malicious.

Unless you have helpful things to say  please don't post,  By all means spare a quiet thought for those affected.  If there are are similar reports over the border in Southwark that woujld be useful, in order to push for coordination between the boroughs.  Please don't use this thread to bash the police, local authorities, or society as a whole.

Do these cars belong to residents in these roads?

Has anybody caught anything useful on cameras? Is it happening overnight?

So are we only to post on this thread  if we are aware of similar spates of  tyre slashing in Southwark?

Surely that would have been reported to the police already?

Malumbu, are you implying that the police in adjacent boroughs don't talk to each other already, if it is necessary to "push for coordination between the boroughs"?

Sorry if I have completely misunderstood, but I'm not sure what the point of your post is, except to make people aware that someone or some people is/are going around slashing car tyres.

Unfortunately there is very little that car owners can do to protect their cars against this kind of vandalism, so far as I am aware, unless they have a garage and don't need to park their car on a road.

I'm afraid there's evidence, when 4x4 tyres were attacked by climate activists, that even cars parked off street were not immune to attacks - a locked garage seems the only 'safe' option. Thank goodness, at least until now, that such vandalism is uncommon.

So @malumbu you don't think it is Tyre Extinguishers then...perhaps there is a more radical fringe group that splintered from TE?

As far as I am aware Tyre Extinguishers were the only group calling on the public to vandalise cars in the name of climate change....

How posh has it got round you?

Did all the motors have all four corners striped and wanted new boots all round?

Or, are all the cars high performance models requiring top of the range 'Continental' brand replacements?

Ten f*cking grand?

Even if you put the two above worst-case scenarios together, add in a bit of fat, and a drink or two for whoever is sorting it, you're struggling to get to £5k.

Is this 'Civil Service' maths?

Or quango-tastic levels of fiscal fuckwittery?

Get yourself down to 'Dulwich Tyres', by the station, or 'Quick Tyres' by Cottage Green in Camberwell.

Or give me seven large.

I'll sort it.

Drop me an extra five, I might even stop slashing them in the first place.

Pretty unnecessary post @David Peckham  50 tyres at £150 each and then no doubt a few more that were not bothered to check why they had one or more punctures.  Indiscriminate - vehicles two years old to 52 years old.  No high end Beemers, Mercs, Volvos and the like.  Just your normal range of family cars.  I hope you got something out of your post, I didn't and perhaps karma will mean that it happens to you.

@Rockets I suggest you just shut up.  Don't you think that those affected and the police haven't considered why this is happening?  You are just so wrapped up in your hobby horses that you can't think about how those affected may feel.  Can't be bothered to put a curse on you too.

@Administrator please lock or delete this thread, I'm getting fed up of unhelpful comments/trolling.

@malumbu no need to be rude - that last post breaks forum rules doesn't it?

Tyre Extinguishers were quite obvious in putting big leaflets on the cars informing the owner that their tyre(s) had been deflated (not slashed, just let down). They specifically stated on their website never to use actual vandalism like slashing or painting and never to target trade vehicles, disabled badge holders etc.

I'm not saying such vandalism never occurred in the name of climate / activism or whatever but just that TE used to pop a tiny piece of gravel under the dust cap which would depress the valve causing the tyre to slowly deflate. Actual slashing wasn't their trademark.

Appreciate that's somewhat semantics / pedantry but I know how much you love a pedantic argument and how keen you are to ensure that every detail is covered...

So maybe you're right with

or maybe it's some bored yoofs or very hungry foxes.

(that's not meant to be sarcastic, there are plenty of reports of foxes chewing through car wiring and brake hoses, eg https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ceqqj1d83w2o )

As I said @exdulwicher I was wondering if it might have been a splinter group from Tyre Extinguishers or someone with similar ideological beliefs. Yes it may have been bored yoofs but the fact @malumbu reports it has been happening for some weeks suggests it is a concerted set of attacks. I do hope someone has some doorbell footage to help identify the vandals and bring them to justice.

Unfortunately, if it does turn out to be some sort of protest against cars it goes to show why some of us were saying that people (and many posters on this forum) should not have been condoning what TE were doing - no form of random acts of vandalism can be justified - no matter what the cause.

    • We’re pretty much down to just sparrows, wood pigeons and the occasional great tit.  Plus parakeets, but I chase them away.    A couple of years ago we had bluetits, robins, blackbirds & goldfinches most days, but almost never now despite washing out the bird bath most days & decent regular bird seed & fat balls.  we have had a couple of sparrow hawks which was exciting, but I’d rather have the goldfinches..  v sad.
    • My garden has been completely empty of birds since I took down my bird feeders (I have to sort out the garden before I put them up again in a different spot.Cats were sitting in wait).

    • Hello lovely Dulwich neighbours 👋 I’m helping to set up a small cello discovery pilot at my local state primary school, giving children their very first chance to experience learning a string instrument in a relaxed, inclusive way. We’re currently looking to borrow or rehome a few 1/4 size cellos that children may have outgrown and are no longer being used. If you have one tucked away in a cupboard or loft and would be happy for it to be loaned for the term or donated, it would be incredibly appreciated and put to wonderful use supporting young musicians at the very beginning of their journey. Happy to collect from anywhere locally (or further afield if helpful). Thank you so much! Angela
