Bit of a rant. It's bad enough having three  people insist on shouting the bible at everyone by the shops, as they stand in front of Fika cafe. But that aside, I very obviously tried to avert my head from the camera they've set up, but the camera man panned round and made sure he got me on film. I don't want to be filmed by some random person against my will. Surely I have a right not to be?

Just walked past and they were still there. Thankfully not ranting as much and keeping the filming personal.

Are they connected to a local church?

What do they rant about?

At least you can cross the road and get away. What I really object to is the people who do it at bus stops, and worse still on buses.

In the latter case, I did once  ask them to STFU. It was so long ago, I can't remember if they did.

I'm not sure who they are with. I would have loved to tell them stfu Sue 😂

I just don't want a camera shoved in my face, in fact maybe that's what they wanted, some kind of reaction so they can create extra drama to boost their tiktok

I did the same on a bus.  The whole bus cheered!  The religious nut shut up.  It is not acceptable for people to try and force their beliefs on you

I agree. And nor should it be acceptable for someone to shove a camera in my face when I clearly tried to avoid it.

I am so sorry to hear about this. xx

Thank you 🙏

So we have been through millions of years of evolution just to be abusive to people?  Irrespective of your beliefs, and I am certainly a non-believer, I wouldn't be abusive.  Just ignore or if you are that bothered argue back.

I pass preachers all the time ranting in Peckham.  I generally chuckle to myself but in the past have been happy to debate with JWs when they call, although they usually leave fairly quickly as they don't agree with my views, including bullying me as nine year old with tales of the end of the world.

Sadly Christian fundamentalism from the times of the crusades, conquistadors and now Trump's America has so much to answer for.

It seems you've missed the point of my post. I wasnt abusive to anyone. I didn't want a camera stuck in my face and to be filmed when it was plainly obvious that I was trying to avoid the camera. And I believe I should have a right to walk around without someone filming me close up against my will.

My ex (who worked from home) used to ask the JWs in and ask them questions they couldn't answer.

They didn't stay long 🤣

I'm not sure that the  Trump's America version of Christian fundamentalism (and now the apparent  Reform version over here) bears much if any relationship to anything that Jesus ever said, for the most part.

As far as we can tell from the New Testament, anyway.

But what would I know, all I know is from school. Apart from my Christian Scientist grandparents, but to the best of my knowledge they didn't rant loudly in the streets,  just sang loudly at their meetings.

And to give them their due, never ever tried to force it on my siblings and me.

I told the JW's that I was a Witch and would cast a spell on them if they rang my bell again (used to be every saturday morning around 10-11am) happily my black cat came rushing down the path and in the house as I was stating this (I'm not btw)..

Now when they do the rounds of my street they always seem to pass our house and not ring the bell but maybe my OH standing 'debating' with them for ages put them off? either way they don't bother us.

    • Can any super techy people advise on this:  I have connected a soundbar to the TV with an HDMI cable into the HDMI ARC socket.  The soundbar works with the TV but when I switch to Netflix or other media that come through a virgin box, the sound disappears completely.  I can then only get the sound back on the TV by unplugging the soundbar from the TV. The virgin box only has one HDMI socket which is used to connect to the TV so can't connect the soundbar to the virgin box by cable. Any ideas on how to make this work or recommendations for a TV wizard to contact? Thanks.
    • Thank you all SO much for the suggestions.  I didn't expect such a helpful and well considered response. Our plans changed and in the end I didn't try any of them but I certainly will in the future.  You don't know how grateful I am for the help.. The strain and effort involved in dining out because of the background noise really puts me off . I do have hearing aids but they aren't a great help. And in fact magnify many of them associated sounds in eating establishments.
    • Jafar lives up to his 5/5 reviews.  A great job well well done. Dismantled the boiler replaced the part and everything put back together and working.  I can only agree with all his excellent reviews.
    • I know I shouldn't bite, but .... Would you like to give some  specific examples of exactly why you consider this orange faced  narcissist with the apparent  mental capacity of a gnat (that's probably being unfair to gnats) and a clearly rapidly declining memory  the "best US president of the last 50 years"?
