On 7th Feb we have 2 rides. Gloria will be riding to Onion Garden from Canada Water and Dave P. is leading a short hilly circuit from Peckham Rye Park.
We first visited Onion Garden ( https://www.theoniongarden.org/) last march (see report). If you were on that ride you will probably want to visit again. If you were not, then this is your chance to have a look at a little treasure hidden away between a rail line and tall buildings in deepest Victoria.  Start 10am, Deal Porter Square (next to Canada Water Library, opposite Canada Water Station). Gloria leading. Approx 10 mile loop. Outward via Cycleways 4 and 14 to Waterloo, then Westminster Bridge, Victoria St and back streets to the Garden. Return via Horseferry Rd, Lambeth Bridge, St Georges Circus, Cycleway 10, Bermondsey side streets and Southwark Park. Aim to be back around 1.30. Flat route, mostly cycleway or quiet streets but some busy stretches (e.g. Parliament Square, Lambeth Road). Everyone welcome.
Meet Peckham Rye Park café (The Round, Straker's Rd, SE15 3UA) at 10am. With Dave P. leading set off  through the park turning up to Brenchley and walking up and over One Tree Hill. Note, the walk has series of steps and may be difficult for heavy bikes. Having learned about the Oak in Honor Oak,  ride down Honor Oak Park and climb up Blythe Hill, peak number 2. From there on to the Waterlink Way and Ladywell Fields. We next do the steep ride up to Hilly Fields and take a well-earned break at the cafe there .  Finally, on to the 4th peak, Telegraph Hill, maybe checking out lower park if we have time as well as the upper. End the ride through Nunhead and back to Peckham Rye Park. Around 12 miles and estimated two and a half hours, so back at 12.30.
General  Info. Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe. If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. How to cancel link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/help/en-gb/articles/575010/how-to-cancel-your-free-registration/. This ride is organised by Southwark Cyclists and is part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/

    • Hello Tori, which of the three incumbent Labour Councillors are you hoping to replace?
    • I just checked the Southwark Council website and it stated:   All responses to the consultation will be recorded and a ‘consultation findings’ report will be published once feedback has been reviewed. The review process involves collating feedback from a number of council teams and external agencies - the aim will be to publish the report as soon as possible after the consultation has closed and no later than the 31 January 2026. The report will be published on this site. The use of bold type on the date is the Council's, not mine. They are late. I wonder why?
    • I would also like to recommend Leon, who completed an EICR inspection for us. He kept us informed of his arrival time on the day and arrived promptly as promised. He was knowledgeable and clear about what work was required. I would happily recommend him and would not hesitate to use his services again.
    • It's not far from Lordship Lane if you cut down Ashbourne Grove/Melbourne Grove. Depends where you start from, I guess!
