Hi EDF,

I was wondering if anyone had any recent recommendations for a cockapoo breeder, hopefully near to our neighborhood. Ideally, we would like a very small scale breeder, or someone who just does it as a hobbie rather tan commercially. We are a couple in our 40s, no children, house with garden and lots of time to care for it.

(I know there is a lot of controversy on buying vs adopting, but pls respect our choice to buy this time).

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Daniel

I'd be extremely wary of anyone who describes this as a "hobby" because that's often where welfare standards slip.

Cockapoos are one of the most exploited breeds in the UK due to their popularity, so due diligence is crucial.

For anyone browsing this thread with a genuine interest in welcoming a new member into their family, there are breed-specific rescue groups & shelters will have puppies, including Cockapoos (they end up here due to small-scale & hobby breeding situations).

Why not get a real poodle.  They can be clipped to look like a cockapoo if you like.  They don’t need to be in a show clip.  They don’t shed.    Both breeds would need regular grooming.  I have/had friends with very charming poodles both medium and standard so see if you can make the acquaintance of some.

    • How did you manage to outwit your resident fox?
    • They're both names that have stuck in my mind, Lukasz particularly.  These searches may well be helpful to you.   From a cursory look, I think Pawel's appearance in the 2015 'Rogue trader warning'  isn't to his detriment. https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/search/?q= Lukasz&quick=1 https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/search/?q=Pawel&quick=1
    • Hi - I posted a request for some help with a stuck door and possible leaky roof. I had responses from Lukasz at Look_as.com and Pawel at Sublime Builders. I don't see any/many reviews - has anyone used either person?  Could use a recommendation rather then just being contact by the tradespeople... Many Thanks
