PC problems/Preparing to Install Message

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Wonder if anyone can help me with this IT issue. When I try to open Microsoft Word (have Windows 7) or any other Microsoft office I get a "preparing to install message" after 2 minutes an error "Problem with Shortcut - Fatal error during installation" appears.

Any recommendations on who can fix this?

Thanks,

G

Hi,

Try to uninstall and re-install Microsoft Office and see if that helps. Don't worry about your documents, they will not be affected.

To uninstall go to Start menu, then Control Panel and Programs. Choose Microsoft Office and uninstall. To re-install just pop the MS Office CD and follow the instructions.

If you still have problems or need an assistance please let me know, my number is 020 3086 7882 or email [email protected]

Regards

    • Thanks very much for that.   I think the better informed we are, the better our discussions will be. The article contained: "That arrest had quite an impact on the [phone theft] numbers for the following month,” said Green.  Here's another indicator, admittedly a piece of police PR,  of how well-targeted police efforts, mostly invisible to us,  can when successful  seriously affect offending figures: https://news.met.police.uk/news/met-police-drive-down-theft-and-robbery-by-84-percent-in-battersea-and-nine-elms-500495.
    • Another excellent article from Jim Waterson's London Centric reporting https://www.londoncentric.media/p/kitchen-foil-and-algerian-markets?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email Interesting that there seem to be favoured and repeated routes for phone snatching for particular thieves.  Seems ED might be one of them ☹️
    • Anywhere near the Overground/Windrush due to its excellent transport links.  You will get larger place in SE23 for example that will give you enough spare cash for private school if that's what you really want but states schools generally good, reflecting the demographic  Easy to get to the bustling streets of East Dulwich but in ten years see what happens to Forest Hill centre.  The whole of the area is full of green spaces. Access to East Croydon for days out in the South Coast
