Just a warning to all to be extra vigilant / safety conscious at the moment!

We were out last night and came home around midnight to discover that our front door wouldn't close properly. A huge muddy footprint (half wiped off) was over the keyhole area and the door was misaligned off the steel frame so had quite clearly been kicked with some force.

Car was on drive, all lights were on etc & babysitter was inside - so whoever attempted to get in wasn't put off by the fact that people were home!!

Luckily our door is very secure (although still had to be repaired today)so guessing it was a single attempt, no luck, so left immediately?

Have notified police but thought should let others know to be aware!

Police said they are seeing a lot of this in Dulwich Village at the moment and mostly it is to get in and grab car keys to take that.

Took photos of footprint etc and recommended getting a car steering wheel lock as often that's a good deterrent to anyone trying to break in in the first place!

    • When she was our MP before the boundaries changed, she was always really helpful and quick to reply to emails, so I'm very surprised to hear this. Have you tried other sources of help eg Citizens Advice Bureau or whatever union you were in when you were working (assuming you were in one)?

    • Another positive recommendation for Jan and co from Silver Fern We had removed trees that were uprooting the brick pavement. Jan and co successfully removed the roots under the brick pavement and levelled the driveway off using the original bricks. Work done to a high standard and no mess no fuss with the work. Quote was excellent value and work done in under 2 days. Neighbours have booked him for some other work. Really nice guy and friendly workers throughout. Toilet and tea breaks provided by the residents here. Thanks Jan and co.
