A lease or lease purchase where you get to buy the car after a 3 year period, albeit on a further loan is tempting

The main dealer makes a considerable part of their margin on servicing, so if you go to someone like Renault, then expect this part to be substantial. I'd rater snap my own teeth out with pliers than do this again.

Personally i've done both, but now purchase what I drive out right. I'd consider a loan and then purchase a car from that money and take responsibility for the maintenance schedule.

A good diesel Volkswagen TDI from an auction or private sale is the way i'd go.

But it takes a fair bit of work on your behalf. Depends on how much personal umph you've got

Also what ???'s says above is noteable

Thanks Annette. WE have done lots of the maths already, ??? and realise how many different options there are - all garages/dealers having lots of different rates depending on what deposit you put down etc. We don't have much to put down as a deposit so really, we'd need to be borrowing the whole amount and so are trying to work out the best place to get a loan from car finance, regular loans, putting it on our mortgage, 0% interest credit card (til that runs out) etc so it's still good to have suggestions from people who have done this recently.

    • I cannot speak highly enough about my experience with Yousef and his team for my recent house move in East Dulwich. Downsizing and relocating  my stuff from a house to a flat was made a calm and pleasant experience. The move included large and heavy items of furniture, taking items apart and reassembling in the new place, as well as loads of boxes. Nothing was too much trouble. I can thoroughly recommend this service, you will not be disappointed!

    • Just seen that a lease has been agreed for the Tile Giant site next to Toolstation at the Grove Tavern end of Lordship Lane. Does anyone have the inside scoop on who has taken the lease?
    • The GM's in Dulwich has been gone for around 3 years, so the most recent post must be about the Crystal Palace branch, I presume the same staff moved over? I've been going to Tash at Kuki for a while, never had a problem.
