dear sirs/Madams,

My name is Mike McGill, and I am writing to this forum from New Orleans, USA (actually I live in a suburb of N.O. called Metairie). I came across this forum during a search for information about a U.K. television black sitcom entitled " The Desmond's". This show aired in the USA back in the 80's, and i had taped a few of the episodes on my VCR. But, these tapes, along with many of my other possessions were lost during Hurricane Katrina.

My main inquiry is this: The opening music for each episode was a Soca tune named "Don't Scratch My Soca". What I am interested in findong out, is the name of the artist that performed this song. Any assistance that could be provided would be most welcome.

regards,

mike mcgill

Hi Vimike,

Hi I am a fan too. It was actually Norman Beaton (the guy that played Desmond) that sung the lyrics to the theme tune! Unfortunately, Norman Beaton died around ten years ago.

You can buy the Desmond?s series on DVD from Ebay if you wanted to replace your set.

    • The events section on here isn't that big! There are presently only 20 events on there for the whole of February! It's just taken me about ten seconds to scroll through to see what's on! Also, where did you sign up for this summary email? Is it definitely coming from this forum, as I can't see it mentioned anywhere?
    • I'm a bit confused. You posted less than half an hour ago (as I type) but at the bottom of your post on what seems to be a screenshot dated yesterday evening  it says you found it? If you haven't, can you not contact the charity shop directly in case they still have it?
    • Can anyone help? When moving home I accidentally sent a framed print to a charity shop on Lordship Lane.  It’s not worth money just of sentimental value to me. 🥲 Has anyone seen this or purchased it? please get in touch with me 07583160009 many thanks
