Children and family massage training now available at Thai-vedic massage (off Uplands road)

The Massage in Schools Programme (MISP) was created by Mia Elmsater (Sweden) & Sylvie Hetu (Quebec) in 2000. The Massage in Schools Association (MISA) they founded now has branches in over 20 countries. The child-to-child massage programme has been developed as an effective strategy for reducing children?s stress levels, tackling aggression and bullying, improving concentration and helping to reduce insomnia. MISP massage is:

- Performed over clothes

- For children 4-12 years old

- Given and received with the child?s permission

- Given by the children, to each other (or can be given by parents to their children or to parents by their children)

- Performed on the back, head, arms and hands

The MISP massage routine is only ever demonstrated by the Instructor on parents, on teachers or in the air. Thai-vedic?s therapist is now a certified MISP Instructor, qualified to deliver massage training to children and families or in schools. Massage training is offered:

- For individual families ? the MISP routine can be taught to up to 4 participants in Thai-vedic?s massage room: e.g. 2 parents and 2 children or 1 parent and up to 3 children. Alternatively, the routine can be taught to any sized family in your own home.

- For larger groups of children ? the MISP routine can taught in classrooms at schools, as an after-school activity or in local community centres, yoga studios or gyms by arrangement.

In addition to MISP massage, Thai-vedic has developed 2 Thai yoga massage training programmes for children aged 8-16 (delivered in the presence of at least one participating parent). Thai massage is performed through clothes, and only demonstrated by the Instructor on parents.

- Classes at Thai-vedic or in your home last for 1 hour to enable you to easily fit the programme into your schedule.

- The 3 massage training programmes are each designed to be taught as a 5 week course, with certificates awarded at the end of each course.

- A taster class can be arranged before you commit to the 5 week course.

- Children and families are encouraged to practice the massage routine at home between training sessions: practice makes perfect!

    • Vans are restricted to one hour a day 8:30 to 9:30 and have to be pre-booked.  So long as you went with and were able to show the right ID then I doubt it would be an issue unless the builders van is emblazoned with their branding as businesses aren't allowed to use it.
    • Perhaps they would run into the issue that Lambeth had if they put it on the  Rye - maybe they would need planning permission for change of use if more than 28 days of permitted development are used up for all the other events plus this. So perhaps emphasising that the two areas are distinct from each other actually helps the council.
    • I think the council could make more of that too. Sell a ticketed event with a local celebrity turning the lights on, followed by a street party with christmas carols and a christmas pop song cover band.
    • When we had lots of rubble to dispose of, we hired a zip an and took it. Didn't have to pay, but they don't allow vans in Sundays from memory
