Police say "They can't be bothered" - despite ?400 vandalism bill

Recommended Posts

Extremely disappointed (not so say angry and outraged) by the police tonight. After 3 separate calls they told me they couldn't be bothered to call the owner of a car which is blocking my garage - despite my scooter being stripped for parts a couple of weeks ago, when left on the street. We're not talking about a driveway here - it's an illegally partied car on a public highway.

Apparently it's not their problem. Neither is it the council's according to them.

The Police were prepared to send two officers to my house when my scooter was vandalised - to advise me on crime prevention but now refuse to even call the owner of a car that prevents me from keeping it safe.

It's obviously moronic.

So - if you can't rely on the council. And the police refuse to help - what do you do when your driveway is blocked?

I'm not the police have phone numbers recorded for every car.

They should have accepted your call and for a blocked drive blocking you exiting they will assign a non urgent ticket and send someone eventually.

If you privately email I will happily look into it for you.

I'm not too sure on this but believe it is not illegal to block access to your property

but maybe illegal as James indicated to block exit from your property...

These issues are always complex and do not always make common sense.

Still annoying though.

    • Ah sorry, it was comedy.
    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
