Usually I curse predictive text, which comes up with ridiculous options, but over the last few weeks it seems to be psychic, oo-er.

Just typed in "Will" as the first word of a text, then "d" - and it came up with "discuss", which was what I wanted to type.

How the f*** did it know that??

Surely not coincidence? And it can't be from my old texts, as I don't usually say "will discuss" in texts :))

Depends on the keyboard you're using but some of them function off an internal datastore of your usage, effectively learning common phrases and word pairings.

Swiftkey is excellent at this, you can even point it at gmail, facebook and twitter to learn more.

ACtually it's excellent full stop, being nicely configurable, supports multiple language predictions without having to switch language, and now has a swype style functionality that works much better in my experience.

THere are a couple of barking mad alternatives to qwerty keyboards

8pen, I gave it a go and found it unusable, but some people apparently swear by it.

messageEase which apparently beat the officaial world record for Words Per Minute entry.

I've just given messageEase a quick go (it's free) and I have to say it's not bad, I managed to tap out the quick brown fox pretty quickly on my first go.

Though I don't think I can be bothered to get it all into the cerebellum, I can see it being very efficient once you have.

    • Now I have heard everything…..not send your kid to a school because you don’t like the name - so to get my head around this, if school is outstanding, parents won’t send their child there because of name of school? Or have I not understood?
    • A quick Google says that it is not undersubscribed unlike many subject schools so those claims mentioned above may not be true. Last Ofsted was good.  You are definitely right about the money. This is what trusts do. Remove word ‘subject’ above Remove word ‘subject’ above I can’t edit my ridiculous errors but would like to apologise  for messy post
    • I have heard claims that people don't send their children there because of the name of the school..?  I genuinely cannot get my head around this one. The school is named after the road it is on which is named after the history of the area!  'Grove Primary School' is potentially the most boring name they could have come up with, and for a school struggling financially, is rebranding the school really the best use of funds?
    • Certainly unique, can't argue with that.
