Still two days until official holiday, the supposed hint of strong winds = 7 people on my bus, no traffic (10 mins from SE22-E&C on the bus), empty tube, rattling around the office like the least favourite Quality Street in an empty tin. Going to the dogs I tell you!

I'm working today and tomorrow, and I am regretting it. Simply because there is so much to bloody do before Wednesday.

Could do without the closure of the overground all week!

Arrived at Peckham Rye this morning expecting to board the eastbound 0729 Overground service...to find all LO seviecs cancelled, and station announcements saying that this had been well advertised in advance with posters "dotted around the station".

Glad to see by the reaction of others on the platform that I was not alone in being completely unaware of this mythical campaign.

I noticed that too. Suggestion of alternative routes might have been rather more helpful, instead of just "we put notices up so don't complain".

At Sydenham they were handing out flyers last week. Still no less annoying though.

Well I've been taking the 0730ish train for the best part of a year (and a return one in the evening peak). And there's nothing at Peckham Rye or Canada Water to suggest that there would be closures over Christmas.

I get text messages from TFL (which includes the London Overground), about 3 days before the closures- they are very comprehensive.

And that's why this country has gone to the dogs. I've been commuting using TfL for decades; they've always run a full service on full working days. Apart from the NOrthern Line closure in 2000 or so which was massively advertised.

But to be fair, if they do need a 5 day window for line maintenance, this is the sensible week to do it in terms of numbers using the service.
