How to strenght the roof construction?

Hello

I am in the process to purchase the loft from Southwark Council. I have been told the technical officer during the inspection must be sure the sky windows will not weak the roof construction..

Any ideas please how to persuade him?

Southwark council are usually very helpful with this kind of thing, have you asked the technical officer what it is they want you to provide? I wouldn't try persuading them they're wrong, unless you have an expert's report to back you up.

an oul ?50 usually sorts it, only joking, it means 'doubling' up on the rafters adjacent to the new roof light. Has to be done but.

When we do a loft conversion with velux windows we register structural calculations with southwark that show roof timber sizes. We also accompany the calculations with structural plans. This may seem unneccessary if you aren't doing any further works but it will satisfy them.
