Fitting a wood burner

Hi all

Anyone got a recommendation for someone who could help us fit a wood burning stove? We need their help with everything from checking and prepping the currently unused chimney, to fitting and making the stove work safely. We also have no idea how much this process should cost so if anyone has done a similar thing and could give us an idea what they paid, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks, and happy new year!

Hi,

We could certainly help you with checking and prepping the chimney as well as connecting you to a qualified installer. The first thing that's needed is for the chimney to be swept, this will make sure that the chimney is clear for the flue liner to be installed and will identify if there are any problems with your chimney that need to be resolved prior to installation.

We charge ?55 for doing the sweep and this include any guidance and advice.

Feel free to call, even if its just for some advice.

Ours cost ?2.500 including a clearview Pioneer stove,(?1100) bought from the Forest Bailiff in SW London-- chimney lining, and installation. We provided our own enamel hearth and our installer laid some concrete down beforehand to create a smooth bedding. Installer was Dennis 07903425482.

Our builder had already exposed the big fireplace space during previous renovations.

We had our chimney checked and swept by Pearse and Sons for viability in the first instance.http://pearceandsonchimneysweeps.co.uk/

If we had been getting a different stove we would almost certainly have used Matt at Casa as he does a start to finish service. 07912861736 but as we were getting a Clearview which cannot be purchased any cheaper wholesale, there was no point.

we have had our stove a year and absolutely love it!!!

    • Received this response from TFL today (15 October)   Thank you for contacting us on 1 October regarding the ongoing diversion of the P13 bus route between Rye Lane and Sainsbury’s, Dog Kennel Hill, since 29 September. You’re absolutely right that the diversion is due to Thames Water works in the area. While other traffic may appear to be flowing freely along Avondale Rise into Ivanhoe Road, our local Service Delivery Manager has confirmed that buses are unable to safely make the turn from Avondale Rise into Ivanhoe Road in either direction. This is due to the size and turning radius of the vehicles, which differs significantly from that of smaller vehicles. We understand that diversions can be inconvenient and appreciate your patience while this work is ongoing. We’re continuing to monitor the situation closely and will restore the usual route as soon as it is safe and operationally feasible to do so. Thanks again for contacting us. If there is anything else we can help you with, please reply to this email. Alternatively, you can call us on 0343 222 1234 and we'll be happy to help you.
    • If anyone is looking for a tree surgeon, I recommend Hamish and Cut Above Tree Management. He was very helpful and personable, quick to respond and did an excellent job of removing a wonky tree in my garden with a minimum of hassle. A fantastic service!
