PeckhamRose
Tell Americans you are about 15 miles from the site.House swap. You will get the better deal.I live in a 3rd floor flat and I've had an offer to swap with a rich couple in San Diego (friends of friends) who know it will take them months to get to the Olympics on public transport (assuming that's possible) from my home in a tube free area, and know my flat is not that modernised and is very small. And they still want it. Meanwhile, their house is big. And in San Diego. And I have no car and they're letting me use their car. And my flat is 3 floors up no lift and --- they have a swimming pool.Hmmmmm! Nero
I also think that house swapping is a good idea. By that time, the links between here and the site should be better. Loan out your house for the two weeks, get a ?1000 deposit and charge them, I dunno, ?1500 for the fortnight. Or is that too much or too little? Marmora Man
I hear that during Wimbledon fortnight and Grand Cup week in Cheltenham houses will rent for ?5K / week upwards - so ?1500 for the fortnight may be low balling it a bit.Pretty sure there'll be a market for rentals nearer the time - and the nearer the time the higher the rental could be. Anyone know how many changes it'll be from Honor Oak Tube Station (new East London Line) to Stratford - if it's straight thru' ED and surrounding areas could be a prime location. Brendan
Should only be one change. ELL up to Canada water and then the Jubilee. Personally I'm doing my bit to get all this guff built with as little of our money wasted as possible and then buggering off somewhere sunny when they all descend on London. Nero
Marmora Man, my geographical knowledge of the Olympics venue are is not that good, so could you tell me how you think the transport links will pan out? From Honor Oak to venue, how long do you think it would take? Is Stratford the station for the venue, or do you have to walk from there or get a bus? Walking from Goodrich School to Honor Oak, plus the transport, I reckon it could be done in about 50 mins if you time it right? Tony.London Suburbs
Put Ken Livingstone in the middle of The Olympic Flame during its Worldwide journey and give him a small taste of the "heat" that motorists have to endure, daily, while sitting in endless traffic while The Bus Lane next door remains empty for 20 minutes then scatter his charred remains around City Hall so he will remain there eternally,in spirit anyway>:D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3982-london-2012some-impressive-new-ideas/#findComment-126032 Share on other sites
