I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this as a cracking family activity but we've just discovered Dulwich College Sports Club (rather belatedly given that our 6 year old has been going there for holiday camps for a good few holidays) as a fab place for family sports activities.

?56 a month for a family pass gives us all free admission to the pool (UV not chlorine!), the badminton/tennis/squash courts and for us adults the gym and sports equipment.

Also we've got discounted swimming lessons (no waiting list - straight in for our 4 and 6 year old on Sunday mornings) and they seem to have a much more sensible approach to the adult/child ratio side of things.

Given that we spend easily a tenner every weekend on swimming pools and then on top want to get fit in 2014 I think this is a great value option, it also has really easy parking out front and good long opening hours.

Just in case anyone's of a mind to do that sort of thing :)

    • Its almost the same as Grove Vale School , now Goose Green School.
    • They used to have dedicated park wardens, who I'm sure used to look after the parks and locked and opened the gates. Years ago I knew someone who was one. I thought they were based in that hut by the toilets. Are they not there any more? The community wardens are attached to the police rather than a specific park, aren't they?
    • Yes, sad how Rye Lane has taken a dive, interesting to see those pics CPR Dave. It's shocking how the section between Choumert Road and the Nag's Head in particular has lost its vibrancy, meanwhile the next section to the top of Peckham Rye Common has gentrified. Wonder why such a distinction in fortunes? Anyway the station square plans have fallen behind yet again, demolition won't now start this summer. The only "work" that will now take place this summer is surveying of the arcade, which they've had 10 years since planning permission to do. At least the replacement TSB branch has progressed but the Blenheim Grove corner building still looks unfinished, despite claims it "is now complete". https://www.southwark.gov.uk/planning-environment-and-building-control/current-and-future-development/peckham-and-nunhead-2
    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
