Recommendation for damp specialist where problem has been fixed long term

I know there are a lot of recommendations for damp specialists on here - David Duggan in particular but most of the reviews refer to work having just been done. I'm looking for recommendations for where people have had damp fixed and then no problems for several years.

The reason I ask is that I was happy with the people I had to fix the penetrating damp problem I had in my back porchway which sits under my neighbour's concrete stairs at the back on my flat. Unfortunately about a year after the work was done (concrete steps were coated with resin and replastering done with water resistant plaster) the damp has returned. I have given up on the company that did the work as they have been so rude and basically refuse to honour the guarantee. At the time they did my work I was happy to recommend them but not so now...

So does anyone have anyone they have used several times or used on a problem that has since been long fixed?

Thanks!

The usual long term solution on Victorian houses is putting them back to their original lime plaster. It is difficult to find lime plasterers in London though, which is bizarre because there are plenty of old houses. I find "Damp experts", even independent ones are generally short-term bodge merchants.

If you have damp on a newer house it is probably a leak or a ventilation problem.

PS most plasterers who don't do lime and/or are not experienced with old houses will recommend a cement-based "waterproof" solution. This is almost always wrong for old houses. The water will travel along the wall and find the tiniest of tiny cracks somewhere and the damp will come back.

    • I thought the most they sell in terms of hot food at londis is like pastries and sausage rolls and for hot drinks its like costa coffee but its always a convenience store. Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion considering that shop has been closed down ever since i moved here
    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
    • GP not willing to refer you on? Say, to King's or similar. Odd
