For the month of March, OBJ Coaching is offering a complimentary 90-minute coaching workshop to London-based teams that will benefit from skills/tools to enhance group dynamics and promote dialogue on a wide array of issues, including team identity, diversity, cross-cultural communication, and conflict resolution.

If interested, please visit www.objcoaching.com or contact Leadership and Team Development Coach, Obi James on [email protected].

Thanks for your PMs/emails. I have 5 dates left in March (6th, 7th, 20th, 25th and 31st) for the complimentary team building sessions.

I have had a number of questions on my approach and background. Apologies for not including in previous post. Here are relevant links:

And in case you're wondering what's in this for me: I am a certified executive coach and a qualified Organisational Coach. I am currently in the middle of an advanced 8-month systemic coaching programme for which I am receiving ongoing training, supervision and assessment. As part of that programme, I am required to complete an additional 100 hours of team coaching as criteria for certification, so these complimentary sessions are to help me reach my target.

Thanks in advance for all your support.

After successfully working with a couple of teams via EDF in March, I am offering another complimentary 2-hour session to London-based teams who would like to explore their team dynamics (especially in situations where there is some conflict/"atmosphere" present).

Here's testimonial from teams who have recently worked with me on their team dynamics:

"I hired Obi to facilitate a half-day team-building workshop for my newly expanded team. The session was engaging, enlightening and well worth the hours spent out of the office focusing on team dynamics and what we stand for. As facilitators, Obi was engaging and dynamic with a great conversational style of facilitating which doesn?t make participants feel like they?re being coached or trained. She clearly has a solid understanding of the Investment Banking business which lends itself to a level of awareness of the challenges and culture, and ultimately results in solutions that are fit-for-purpose." - Senior Vice President, Leading Investment Bank

"Obi was very energetic and engaging. She ensured that the session was inclusive of all attendees and was able to be reactive to emerging themes during the session." - Manager, NHS Leadership Team

" "Obi is a very smart, well presented lady who is very clear when she speaks and allows gaps for any questions. She also takes the time to explain any challenging scenarios and won't move on until she is clear that everyone understands what she is talking about. Obi and her partner have a wonderful working relationship and together create the best outcome for identifying team dynamics and the best coaching there is to offer. I would give up another full working day to have another session with these intelligent ladies. Well done guys!" - Finance Department, Anonymous

    • Wow I had no idea they give you 5% in perfume for your accommodation. You're right, I need to travel more.
    • Do none of you go abroad.  Tourist taxes are really common in continental Europe and do vary a lot city by city. They are collected by the hotels/rental apartments. They are usually a  tiny part of your holiday costs.  In Narbonne recently we paid €1.30 per person per night.  The next town we went to charge 80 cents per person per night. By comparison Cologne is 5% of your accomodation.
    • Hey Sue, I was wrong - I don't think it would just be for foreign tourists. So yeah I assume that, if someone lives in Lewisham and wants to say the night in southwark, they'd pay a levy.  The hotels wouldn't need to vet anyone's address or passports - the levy is automatically added on top of the bill by every hotel / BnB / hostel and passed on to Southwark. So basically, you're paying an extra two quid a night, or whatever, to stay in this borough.  It's a great way to drive footfall... to the other London boroughs.  https://www.ukpropertyaccountants.co.uk/uk-tourist-tax-exploring-the-rise-of-visitor-levies-and-foreign-property-charges/
    • Pretty much, Sue, yeah. It's the perennial, knotty problem of imposing a tax and balancing that with the cost of collecting it.  The famous one was the dog licence - I think it was 37 1/2 pence when it was abolished, but the revenue didn't' come close to covering the administration costs. As much I'd love to have a Stasi patrolling the South Bank, looking for mullet haircuts, unshaven armpits, overly expressive hand movements and red Kicker shoes, I'm afraid your modern Continental is almost indistinguishable from your modern Londoner. That's Schengen for you. So you couldn't justify it from an ROI point of view, really. This scheme seems a pretty good idea, overall. It's not perfect, but it's cheap to implement and takes some tax burden off Southwark residents.   'The Man' has got wise to this. It's got bad juju now. If you're looking to rinse medium to large amounts of small denomination notes, there are far better ways. Please drop me a direct message if you'd like to discuss this matter further.   Kind Regards  Dave
