Polly73
Hello.I have a two-year old and a two month old and have been trying to avoid getting a double buggy (no space) by carrying the little one in a baby bjorn carrier.Problem: he's a huge baby (16lb already at just two months) and it's doing my back in.What are the best carriers for a large baby? I know some people use slings etc for a year or more so they must be able to take the weight. Are the "active" baby bjorn carriers better?Any advice much appreciated. etta166
I like the Ergo, Connecta or a woven wrap for when they get bigger. Mine were probably between 6 and 12 months before they got to 16lbs though, so I'm not sure what would be best for a 2 month old. They are all possible to use from birth, but I've only used a stretchy wrap for a 2 month old and they aren't great for heavy babies. Convex
Ergo is great, or beco or manduca are the same principle. Also a friend had a babyhawk for her heavy baby which was really comfy. I would def recommend a trip to the sling library (google south East London sling library) as sometimes the right sling can depend on the size of the parent as well as the baby.I'm also planning to sell my hop-tye which is a mei tai style carrier but you'd be best to try it first. Pm me if you want to try it (I also have an ergo and a baba sling which you can try on, not selling but it would give you and idea of fit if yu can't get to the sling library) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/41112-baby-carrier-advice-please/#findComment-719021 Share on other sites

simonethebeaver
Yes, the sling library is what you need. They've just moved to Beckenham but easily accessible.Convex, I'd be interested in your hop tye depending on colour! crystal7
I carried my huge baby, who was around 16lbs at 3 months, in a moby wrap and then an Ergo from about 4 months. Both great and I still carry him now in the Ergo on my back. bluesuperted
Btw you will find any decent woven wrap or soft structured carrier a total dream after a Bjorn, seriously you are going to love it! I have a 2.7 month gap and no double buggy, youngest has only ever been carried and I use a bugaboo bee for toddler on occasional long day trips.
