Not sure if this is the best section for this but none seemed quite appropriate ...

I'm a local (West Dulwich) musician looking for individuals, bands or orchestras to play music with. I'm returning to music after a 10 year absence (stopped to have kids) but previous to that I played in various pop/rock and jazz bands for years. I'm a bass player but also play keyboards and can sing a bit (not a front person though).

I also play classical piano and flute and used to sing in choirs.

Genre-wise I'm happy to dabble in anything except heavy rock!

Any local musicians or bands looking for a bass player? Or can anyone recommend any chamber groups or orchestras?

Hi Suzi,

Flute-wise, you could go along to the Southwark Concert Band - I played for them years ago and they had pretty much an open door policy in terms of new members. From memory they rehearse on Thursdays, at the top of Red Post Hill.

Also, you could come to Opal Flutes (rehearse every 2nd Monday, 7:30pm, Christ Church, Barry rd). A really welcoming group, and a mixture of ex-professionals through to adult earners. I play principal flute for them.

    • It was a reactionary post and inappropriate when talking about a real case and a real person who was harmed.  London streets are generally pretty safe.  Sadly violent crime happens from time to time, as it always has.
    • Do tell, CPR Dave, what the spiteful jealous stuff is - I'm intrigued.  Agree - Burnham is a top class communicator (polar opposite of Starmer) he'd do a great job of uniting the party. I still think Wes Streeting has the edge, though I'm sure he has more enemies as well.
    • This is a huge part of the problem.   Starmer is only interested in himself, not in what is best for our country.    There's a litany of stuff he's done for spiteful jealous personal reasons which has damaged the nation enormously. Burnham would be a much better leader than of the other dross left behind when Starmer goes. To inflict a worse leader (and PM) upon us for his own selfish reasons would add to the problems and be entirely in keeping with his woeful premiership so far.
    • I heard today there was a burglary in Lacon Road yesterday evening between 20.00 - 22.00,  apparently the owners were home at the time & thieves got away with electrical items along with the owners car!  Wtf!   Anyone heard anything else?
