Appalling Roofer warning

Recommended Posts

I had my roof completely replaced 4 years ago and was provided with a 20 year guarantee. I now have leaks in several places and surprise surprise the builder is claiming that he went bankrupt shortly after doing my roof and that he did a good job- yet he re provided paperwork to me well after the date he claims to have dissolved his company, which means he's either lying about his bankruptcy or the guarantee. Either way I now find myself in a position of having paid for. Good roof in good faith and with an awful roof.

He hadn't put half of the items/finishes required on the roof which is why it leaks now. ( the local council sent their roofers out and highlighted than many of the more expensive items were missing from my roof, lead flashing being one) I don't want anyone else to fall foul of these awful workmanship/slippery behaviour and false extraction of funds.

He trades under the following names and has a very pronounced stutter when nervous or confronted about his mal practices. He is a big presence and plays the affable chap.

Keyzer at Blue Yonder. He works in the south east and is not good at his job. I can only hope this helps one person avoid being caught out by him.

Hello my name is Kevin Keyzer and I hope i have a right to reply.

For background, i was recommended to this client and undertook the roof and other works after, including a refit of her kitchen.

When i quoted for the roof i explained and gave two quotes with regards to the flashing details.

A cheaper one with soakers and a cement fillet or an expensive one with a step and cover flashing in lead.

After explaining both options she selected the cheaper option which still had and has the same guarantee of 20 years.

I had no contact with the client, including her defamatory remarks about "leaks" until she notified me and said she was selling the property to a housing association and they wanted a discount on her asking price as the flashings were not lead.

This was 2 days before the exchange of contracts and she "asked" if i could help.

(emails to prove)

Due to short notice and the fact i was working in employment for a building contractor full time i was unable to do the additional work of fitting lead.

Although this is now over 8 years old, i will be taking actions against the client as i now know that potential clients have been swayed by the internet search of my name/builder.

I left on good terms and would have always tried to help Dana. (founder of this site) however i do intend to enforce the removal of this post and if not persue her for defamation and slander.

I stand by my work ethic and denounce this professional and personal attack.

    • Morally they should, but we don't actually vote for parties in our electoral system. We vote for a parliamentary (or council) representative. That candidates group together under party unbrellas is irrelevant. We have a 'representative' democracy, not a party political one (if that makes sense). That's where I am on things at the moment. Reform are knocking on the door of the BNP, and using wedge issues to bait emotional rage. The Greens are knocking on the door of the hard left, sweeping up the Corbynista idealists. But it's worth saying that both are only ascending because of the failures of the two main parties and the successive governments they have led. Large parts of the country have been left in economic decline for decades, while city fat cats became uber wealthy. Young people have been screwed over by student loans. Housing is 40 years of commoditisation, removing affordabilty beyond the reach of too many. Decently paid, secure jobs, seem to be a thing of the past. Which of the main parties can people turn to, to fix any of these things, when the main parties are the reason for the mess that has been allowed to evolve? Reform certainly aren't the answer to those things. The Greens may aspire to do something meaningful about some of them, but where will they find the money to pay for it? None of it's easy.
    • Yes, but the context is important and the reason.
    • That messes up Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland - democracy being based on citizenship not literacy. There's intentionally no one language that campaign materials have to be in.
    • TBH if people don't see what is sectarian in the materials linked to above when they read about them, then I don't think me going on about it will help. They speak for themselves.  I don't know how the Greens can justify promising to be a strong voice for one particular religion. Will that pledge hold when it comes to campaigning in East Dulwich (which is majority atheist)? https://censusdata.uk/e02000836-east-dulwich/ts030-religion
