Interested in Fundraising for a great cause?

Hi some of you know me as a local web designer and marketing consultant in our local area..Well, I am honoured to tell you that have been working on a really exciting project for the last couple of weeks building the Marc Bolan School Of Music website.

Those of you over the age of 40 will remember Marc Bolan, huge 70s icon, who tragically died in a car accident.

Marc Bolan's partner, Gloria Jones and son Rolan Bolan, have begun a journey to raise money to build a music school in Marc's name. Their aim is to raise an initial ?50k to start the build. Some companies, artists and celebrities

have already pledged and donated services computers and auction items etc. This project, when completed will change the lives of 100s of children and families in Sierra Leone and further afield.

Co-founder Gloria Jones, had great success last night when a documentary which she participated in won Best Documentary at last nights Oscars!

The school build campaign "Buy a brick- build a school" was officially launched at midnight last night, where anyone can support by purchasing a brick (or 100s!) for just a ?1 each.

If you are part of an organisation, school, club or just want to donate a ?1 please contact us. We would love to cover some local fundraising events. There are also plans for the near future opportunities for children to become penpals when the internet access is set up.

Even if you are unable to donate or fundraise, if you can share the "buy a brick" campaign or any other posts from our site on Facebook and Twitter is also worth its weight in GOLD! Follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook as well

Please feel free to conatact us email [email protected]

Thanks for reading...appreciate all support

    • Hi folks. A reply from Events re my questions: "Thank you for taking the time to send us this feedback.   We have an internal event debrief booked to take place on Thursday 18 July and all of the issues you have raised have been recorded and will be reviewed at this meeting. I will be able to respond fully to you after this meeting has taken place. There will also be an opportunity for local residents to attend a community debrief meeting. This is scheduled to take place at a venue close to the park w/c 22 July. This meeting will be facilitated by the GALA team, but council officers will be present also. Details will be circulated to those on the council’s stakeholder register and GALA’s stakeholder register and also to anyone who has complained about the event but does not have their contact details listed on either register.     If you have any further questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Charlie Simm         Senior Events Officer       London Borough of Southwark Email direct: [email protected]           Email general: [email protected]  Tel: 020 7525 2739" We must go to the meeting if you're invited because you made a complaint, or are on the list from being invited to the pre-Festival meetings.
    • The Ivy House, lovely as it is,  doesn't book rooms for parties any more, to the best of my knowledge, except in exceptional circumstances. Though you could ask, in case things have changed again. The Castle has a nice function room upstairs, but I have no idea if they book it out  for private parties.
    • We use Virtuo when we go away for a few days, really nice cars (Merc GLA; BMW 1) that are new and clean. They can drop off the car to your house (or street) and pick it up at the end - again, not for a single day, but we tend to go for 3/4 days. Not the cheapest but competitive and for the great cars - we like it. There is also pick-up from ncp near Guy's Hospital. Here's a £30 off referral https://tinyurl.com/virtuoED if you're interested (yes I get that too).  I recently used Zip car for a daily rental-  was more expensive than virtuo rate (though local ED pickup was a plus) - but a 70k mile clapped out MG was a pretty terrible experience - squealy breaks, no suspension, the leather'ish drivers seat threadbare on right side. Surprised any car rental company could keep vehicles on the road that long.
    • We always use Balfes and they are very good too.
