I use Firefox for the most part, but unfortunately in order to access my remote working portal I have to use Internet Explorer (10).

It's been a while since I'd used it, and I've moved house since (not that I see that making a difference). Anyway, now when I try to open IE, a window opens with just a white background and the cursor doing that blue rotating circle thing it does when it's thinking. Then after 5-10 second it just closes.

Any ideas?

And yes I've done some google searches, but having no joy.

Do you have Avast and/or have you installed it since you last used IE?

I know there have been problems with IE10 and Avast - that the latter prevents it from running and/or updating - could be that - Google it and you'll see lots of stuff listed which might ring a bell for you.

It's not thinking, it's laughing at you.

Have you tried this, also from the horse's mouth? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967896

Ha, I think you're probably right. Yeah tried both those things to no avail. Wonder if I've got some dodgy malware somehow, but AVG Pro isn't picking anything up.

Like Sue I’ve not posted off so many this year but some I still write letters to  e.g my late mum’s cousins and other family  but hey ho that’s something I do and enjoy.  I used to hand deliver Christmas cards to a lot of neighbours on my street but gave up this year as realised that most of them I don’t see or speak to and can only count on a few to call a true friend or neighbour.
