Mums: fancy a night out with your young ones (7-11 yr olds)

Mums we need your help. We have organised a disco dance event for Juniors between 6-11 years old in Dulwich. From feedback from all our previous Little Disco's, we thought we ought to trial it. We have given out lots of flyers and posted it on forums but are eager to reach out to this older age group.

We are both mums of younger ones and our network is therefor in the under 5's. The concept is simple: your juniors have a great time dancing with us in the early evening whilst you (and your local friends or husband) can enjoy a glass of vino or even grab a bite to eat in the pub downstairs (The Crown and Greyhound). We thought this would appeal maybe to mums who would like a catch up in a social setting with other mums from school or local friends.

If you think this is a good idea - please let us know which networks / publications / social groups we should be reaching out to, to engage with parents of this age group.

many many thanks for your help!

Kate that sounds like a great idea, this forum is a really good place to start, but also can I suggest that handing out flyers at school out time might get to your target audience?

I hope you can get your plan off the ground as I think it sound wonderful.

Thanks Silly Woman - much appreciated!

We are giving away 2 adult and 2 Junior tickets (worth ?18) if you share your thoughts on this event with us on how to make this disco for junior a success. All views welcome.

    • If you "cotton on" and read the council announcement, it clearly states "The library will be closed from 17 November until late June or early July 2026."  https://www.southwark.gov.uk/2025/dulwich-library-closing-refurbishment
    • I’ve been seeing Lisa at goose green clinic for energy work for a year now.  Lisa is kind, caring and hugely supportive. She is wonderfully masterful and trained as a reiki master for 20 plus years. Alongside other energy work.  My time spent with her is like therapy. An emotional safe space for deep conversations and reflection followed by relaxing and energising healing work.  each experience I’ve had has been different, the end result remains the same. Feel lighter, almost euphoric and almost float home. Definitely an experience not to be missed.  https://www.goosegreenclinic.net/therapies/healing-energy-work/
    • Went there once and were not impressed when they charged £9 for one pot of Chinese tea for 2 people.
    • What nobody has cotton onto is that Dulwich library will not be available possibly for the Council Elections in May 26. Looks as though Southwark are not confident that the work will be completed by May 26 and are scouting around to find alternative venues.
