Hugely glam topic, but our vacuum needs replacing.

I'd ideally like on of those cordless stick vacuum cleaners but have heard they aren't enough as your only cleaner.

We have 2 cats, so it needs to be able to deal with pet hair along with the usual family debris.

Thoughts and recommendations gratefully received.

I've been through all types of vacuum cleaners over the years, including two Dysons and a Miele, but by far the best cleaner I've ever used is also the cheapest - I bought a Hoover Hurricane HS2200 for ?35 from Amazon last year and it's brilliant. I thought it looked quite cheap and flimsy when it arrived, but it's proved to be as robust as any other I've had, is very very light, and also has incredibly strong suction. It copes with cat hair far better than any other cleaner I've had/
I will personally recommend Miele S8320 Cat & Dog Premium Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner, Mango Red. Hoovers brand are also good and can pack a punch when I comes to suction. The choice is yours, Miele brands are pricey, on the other hand Hoover brands are affordable.

    • I was in there recently and never noticed a smell, but I think it's been mentioned on here before. Have you asked the staff about it?
    • The empty shelves is well reported, but the sewage smell has been awful for weeks if not months, and just keeps getting worse. It started off near the Costa machine/ behind the delivery and collections booth thing, but now it hits you the second you walk in the store. I’m amazed nothing (visibly at least) appears to be going on to fix it. Somewhat relieved it’s not just me who can smell it!

    • I presume the terrapins originally came to the park as unwanted pets. It seems to be fairly common for people to dump them in park ponds etc when they realise they don't stay the small size they were when they bought them.
