Southwark Youth Orchestra

Recommended Posts

Southwark Youth Orchestra are returning to the beautiful St John the Evangelist Church, Goose Green, East Dulwich, this half term for a 3 day course.

If you are / are the parent of a young Gr5+ standard musician and you are interested in joining SYO, please do not hesitate to get in touch. This year SYO have performed at the Royal Festival Hall alongside the Southbank Sinfonia, and last Autumn were recorded again at St John the Evangelist giving a premier performance of a brand new composition that was broadcast on BBC Radio 3. SYO is made up of young players who live or go to school in Southwark, or in the neighbouring South Riverside Music Partnership boroughs of Lambeth, Lewisham and Greenwich. This half term we will be working on new repertoire as an orchestra, we will be working with 'Multi-Story' in preparation for a concert in Peckham Rye's multi-storey car park in June, and we will also be working alongside the might Kinetika Bloco - a pan London carnival arts outfit with a particularly strong presence in Southwark. So lots of variety, and some fantastic performance opportunities for the players.

There will be a CONCERT at St John the Evangelist at 6pm on Wednesday 28th May, Free of Charge. If you are member of the local community and would like to come and watch, we would love to see you there.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch - [email protected]

Thank you!

    • Did you know that registered medical practioners are supposed to report a notifiable disease to the UK HEALTH security Agency UKHSA. This includes COVID-19.  There’s  quite a long list of other diseases they must report too. They include cholera, diphtheria, acute infectious  hepatitis A/B/C, acute meningitis and acute enchephalitis.

    • We went in for a quote for our tiny bathroom and they said it would cost £8-10k for off the shelf items and installation.   We looked around and found https://thehousemartin.co/about He did the work for less than 5k, including plastering, carpentry of a custom cabinet, plumbing, painting and tiling. The quality of finished work was very high so we can't recommend him highly enough, the only additional cost to us was purchasing the fixtures.
