An Audience with Howard Marks

Ahead of the Crystal Palace Overground Festival on 26 ? 29 June, the organisers have announced a very special pre-festival fundraiser at Kingswood House, Kingswood Estate, Dulwich.

On Thursday, May 29, intrepid bon viveur Howard Marks will bring his spoken word show; Scholar, Smuggler, Prisoner, Scribe to south east London.

With trademark honesty and penetrating humour, Howard will look back at four extraordinary and action packed phases of his life. Covering his time as an academic and his nascent interest in marijuana, through his infamous years as the world?s most notorious drugs trafficker and his incarceration in Terre Haute, one of the United States' toughest penitentiaries, Howard brings the story up to date with his current career as a bestselling author and national treasure. Enthralling and hilarious in equal measure, you may think you know the Howard Marks story but there are many tales still left to tell.

    • Hello! My understanding is that the second weekend will NOT be happening this year. The first weekend will go ahead, as in previous years. Tori Griffiths (Labour councillor candidate)
    • It says on the Southwark site that the decision on extending the event to two weekends, with a large slice of park inaccessible to the public for over a month, is imminent ( publication due 31January). Does anyone know the decision?
    • Hello. My two kids and myself have both used micro scooters for years now (oldest is 10). They are long lasting and you can get spare wheels and parts which is good so I'd recommend them. Ebay will have lots including refurbished ones. We had the bigger size 3 wheel only briefly, the maxi, used it about 1-2 years for scooting to school before child wanted 2 wheels. He's been speedy on 2 wheels since at least age 7. So you're at a tricky age to pick for.  I guess think about her ability and height.
    • So where have you both decided on? Made a shortlist yet or even gone? - sure I am not the only one who is keen to know since your posting has certainly thrown up interesting venues or is this in-depth research before early dinner??
