Wondering if anyone has received care in this unit or knows how to request carer there? I understand it is a very small unit. any advice appreciated as can't see alot of reference to it in the paperwork or web info but definitely saw a sign to the unit when we were at the hospital for a scan this week.

Thanks victoria

Is it the midwife-led suite you're referring to? If so it's two rooms they have which are designed to create a home-from-home environment. There are two rooms, the Beach Room and the Woodland Room, and both rooms feature a birthing pool and a double bed, calming wall murals, as well as a support sling that enables women to maintain an upright position when giving birth. Run entirely by midwives, the suite is designed to be a more relaxed place for women with low risk pregnancies to give birth. If you're having a healthy pregnancy and they're free when you go into labour, you'll be able to use them - speak to your midwife and express a preference in using them and she should be able to tell you more.

Hi

I used the beach room in mid March with the wonderful Lanes midwives. It was fantastic- spacious, huge birthing pool and lots of things to help aid an active birth. We were back home 3 hours after the birth, and just 5 after arriving. It's obviously a very personal decision, but for me one of the great attractions was an environment so close to home (my first was delivered at home), but with the security of having lots of help on hand - we had a bit of a scare towards the end and knowing we were at the hospital was very reassuring.

Hope that helps!

    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
