My daughter will be starting kindergarten at Herne Hill in September and I thought it would be nice for her to meet some of her new class mates beforehand to help settle her (& her class mates) in. I think the school organise something similar but I figured a few more meet-ups will make faces more familiar and a talking point about who she will play with etc in the build up to the first day. Children new to the school and those who are moving up from the nursery welcome. I suggest June as a broad starting point for a date to meet and if all goes well we can meet in July and August, too. Venue to be decided but will see how many reply first!

Hi, my son starts there this September too & I think a meet up is an excellent idea! Count us in. I think there are three kindergarten classes & we find out which our children are in at the official meet up. I've been meaning to chase the school to find out when that will be.

    • Thanks. I'll call them shortly as I could get there without the car.
    • One time Sainsbury's delivered 6 bags of apples instead of 6 single apples which I couldn't possibly get through. I phoned Pecan in Peckham to ask if they would accept them despite their website stating no fresh foods. I must have phoned at just the right time as they were happy to accept them. Sainsburys gave me a refund so the donation was courtesy of them. Or you could experiment with all kinds of apple recipes and write a blog about it
    • There's a food bank off Dog Kennel Hill. Albrighton Community Fridge. https://www.albrightoncommunityfridge.org/ I'm sure they would welcome them, but maybe check first, as they don't actually mention fresh fruit on their website? But apples aren't that perishable. Drop off seven days a week 9 - 5. Be warned if you are going by car, parking can be very difficult, easiest if there are two of you so one person can take the food in while the other can move the car if necessary.
    • Food banks for sure and what about approaching these schools in area that run summer camps - although having said that with health and safety being so strict might not allow it - crazy really.    Can’t remember name of church but was one in Peckham that from memory did a community meal a couple of times a week. Now they for sure would take them and probably Kingswood House as well.
