Alan Medic
Replaced our old one with something similar. Didn't want to pay ?80 to have them 'install' it as I thought I could do it myself. However Bosch instructions state it must be fitted by a qualified electrician. Anyone know why? Lowlander
They may not repair it under warranty if they find out it wasn't done by a qualified electrician. You'd have to really bodge it for them to suspect this.In other words if you know what you're doing then just go for it. KidKruger
Just make those connections really tight and insulate / cover them. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44617-connecting-an-electric-oven/#findComment-749012 Share on other sites

(Curry's) They performed several electrical tests . Earth Leak Tests. before and after the New appliance was fitted. They will not fit the appliance if there is any problem with any of your wiring. It's best to know if you have problems. They then provided a Full Electrical Safety Certificate. It may affect any Guarantee if you do not have one. red devil
As Foxy points out, the wiring, especially in an old property, may not be up to the standard required for a modern oven... Salsaboy
From what I can remember if you are connecting to and existing outlet, not putting a new outlet in, you can do it yourself. Just make sure that all the connections are nice and tight. This is of course assuming that you aren't putting something in that has the power consumption of a small city. Loz
As this is in a kitchen, doesn't this fall under the Part P requirements, so at the very least you'd need to get someone to certify the work? Alan Medic
I've no idea but the oven doesn't even come with a cable. According to Bosch that will be provided by my installer, whoever the feck he is! Will soon be posting in the business section I think.
