Tony - I am beginning to find you quite offensive.

Back on topic, these two are proper men - but I really do have quite erratic taste when it comes to fellas.

Annasfield: I've found your comments deliberately UNaccompanied by a emoticon quite offensive for some time to be honest.

I was OBVIOUSLY joking on here on Page 2 about the Young Ladies and their natural healthy interest in Men and you completely missed the point and told me to get over it!!...Then when I reply with EXACTLY the same comment(thats "reply" NOT "initiate" remember) you tell me that you find MY comments "offensive" when I am giving YOU a taste of your own comments!:))

So I assume its O.K. for you to initially make that comment but not O.K. for me to riposte in IDENTICAL fashion!

Quel Incredible!

I initially said on Page 2 of this thread TONGUE-IN-CHEEK(!!)

"I can't believe how superficial and shallow most Women seem to be on here"....and you replied "We are as shallow as Men-get over it".......

Did you not realise I was joking? How could I NOT be?...When have you EVER heard a Male over a certain age (I'm 54) criticise Women for likng Men?

Whats even more outrageous Annasfield is that you posted this comment this afternoon on this thread:

"Yeah, but the ladies thread has become infested".........again without a semblance of humour....and yet YOU appearred FIVE TIMES on the FIRST page of the equivalent MALE thread!...

As someone once said "You could not make it up"......

I think "One Rule for ME and another for YOu" applies as does

"Don't do as I do,do as I say!"....

and naturally not forgetting this gem where you questioned my manhood..lol

I don't feel the desire to use an emoticon every time I post to get my point across. People who I regularly chat with on here will know when I'm joking

I found your insuinuations with regards to the types of women that had been posting in the other thread offensive, which is why I asked you to clarify. You then went on to call me "brute", which is why I responded in the way I did. Nothing to do with any other comments.

Had a ticket, but have been to every home game this season (bar Crewe). Also have done all the London away games, so a weekend without travelling back to the North West was quite appealing. Was supposed to meet mates in North London, but ended up just watching it at home.

Sorry, no idea how to resize.

Used to go to the Sandon but we boycott it now, because they've sold out to the corporates.

Avoid the Park and the Albert as they're always rammed. Tend to head to Rouge, which is a new bar this season. It's a mate of a mate's and is always full of locals and very easy to get served in.

Do you get up for the match much?

There's no need to be offended Annasfield. I didn't even note which Young Ladies had posted. There were 1 or 2 that I had assumed from other postings were Guys, probably mistakenly.

This is a classic case of a misunderstanding!:))....I was NOT calling you "brute" I would never dream of being so rude!..lol.

I said "brute" as in....Et tu brute? .

Et tu, Brute?" it says on Wikipedia are perhaps the most famous three words uttered in literature, "Et tu, Brute?"

Its just a joking way of saying "and you of all people are betraying me " although I meant it to mean "and the same to you!"...:)

p.s. As you thought I was calling you "brute" its no wonder you took offense but I meant it as in The Latin Shakespearean phrase! Its from Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar"...

Take care and see you around.

    • The current wave of xenophobia is due to powerful/influential people stirring up hatred.  It;'s what happened in the past, think 1930s Germany.  It seems to be even easier now as so many get their information from social media, whether it is right or wrong.  The media seeking so called balance will bring some nutter on, they don't then bring a nutter on to counteract that. They now seem to turn to Reform at the first opportunity. So your life is 'shite', let;s blame someone else.  Whilst sounding a bit like a Tory, taking some ownership/personal responsibility would be a start.  There are some situations where that may be more challenging, in deindustrialised 'left behind' wasteland we can't all get on our bikes and find work.  But I loathe how it is now popular to blame those of us from relatively modest backgrounds, like me, who did see education and knowledge as a way to self improve. Now we are seen by some as smug liberals......
    • Kwik Fit buggered up an A/C leak diagnosis for me (saying there wasn't one, when there was) and sold a regas. The vehicle had to be taken to an A/C specialist for condensor replacement and a further regas. Not impressed.
    • Yes, these are all good points. I agree with you, that division has led us down dangerous paths in the past. And I deplore any kind of racism (as I think you probably know).  But I feel that a lot of the current wave of xenophobia we're witnessing is actually more about a general malaise and discontent. I know non-white people around here who are surprisingly vocal about immigrants - legal or otherwise. I think this feeling transcends skin colour for a lot of people and isn't as simple as, say, the Jew hatred of the 1930s or the Irish and Black racism that we saw laterally. I think people feel ignored and looked down upon.  What you don't realise, Sephiroth, is that I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I just think that looking down on people because of their voting history and opinions is self-defeating. And that's where Labour's getting it wrong and Reform is reaping the rewards.
    • @Sephiroth you made some interesting points on the economy, on the Lammy thread. Thought it worth broadening the discussion. Reeves (irrespective of her financial competence) clearly was too downbeat on things when Labour came into power. But could there have been more honesty on the liklihood of taxes going up (which they have done, and will do in any case due to the freezing of personal allowances).  It may have been a silly commitment not to do this, but were you damned if you do and damned if you don't?
