Dale Wilson:

Dale Wilson's work explores tensions between the obsolete and the reclaimable, the digital and the analogue, the machine-made and the man-made.

Strands of audiotape are arranged, overlaid and applied to wooden boards in industrial and decorative motifs, evoking the look of machine printed vinyl sheets. This machine-made aesthetic is at odds with the steady and meticulous labour used to produce the work, just as the limited duration of the audio contained on the surface undermines the work's inherent production time.

Here, 30 or 60-minute compositions reduce personal and evocative material such as audio recordings into a mere surface or skin, recording repetitive human labour or mark making. Through this practice, he plays with notions of labour, production and time.

Van Dough:

Born and bread (sic) in South-East London, Van Dough is a family business, dreamt up by boyf. and girlf. mega-team Steph and James, with a lot of help from their brilliant friends and family.

They love cooking, love eating, love sharing food, and like playing with fire a bit too much.

Five Points Brewing Company:

The Five Points Brewing Company is a new brewery based in the heart of Hackney, East London.

They are a small, independent brewery, and they brew and package all their beer themselves, on site in East London.

They strive to be a socially responsible business and employer, contributing to the community around them. They are a Living Wage employer, they run an apprenticeship scheme for 18-24 year olds in Hackney, they source their energy from 100% renewable sources, and they are committed to reinvesting a 5% of their profits in local charities and community projects.

St DAVID Coffee House:

St DAVID coffee house, located yards away from Forest Hill train station is a friendly independent coffee house.

St DAVID is owned by three 'actor' friends Sian, Jordan and Russell who all live locally and are passionate about the up and coming coffee culture in London and want to keep Forest Hill a part of that. They also provide free wifi!

    • I’m in exactly the same position.  They badgered me for ages to have a water meter fitted.  I’d prevaricated simply because it’s so tedious dealing with these people but eventually gave in when the communications became increasingly frequent and aggressive and it was done in March 2023. I just assumed I’d then be charged on actual consumption but I received an email this morning with details of the latest price increase and it said, “Since your property doesn’t have a water meter, your bill is calculated in advance based on fixed rates rather than water usage”.  I’m sure they’ve realised I’d be paying much less if they billed me on actual consumption but have not gone out of their way to inform me.  Trawling through their website, for me anyway, is an unutterably tedious chore, but I think I’ll now have to work up the energy over the weekend to pick up the phone on Monday morning and have a word with them.
    • Great Service again from Andy.  Contacted him with a couple of issues with toilet cistern and shower.  He came over and sorted it all out quickly. Good advice given, reasonable charge for the jobs.  Highly recommend Andy!
    • Just seen this.  Your post was a bit unnecessary.  I was simply responding to the previous post that children should be cycling on the pavement. But as you say I know shed loads about transport.  Not to the depths that some go down to the minutia.  Some call me the space cowboy.  Some call me the gangster of love.  I think of myself as the people's poet.  You have to laugh at yourself. Echoing what DKH said, we weren't there, you don't know the parent was making a snide remark, My favourite Dulwich parent story was a few years ago were friends when we were in the Herne garden a few years ago, who let their children run riot.  Bless.  One decided to turn the hose on spraying some poor drinkers.  Now most of us would be mortified, but the friends welcomed their child's creativity.
