You'll know Mr (John) Skinner. The man that gave so so much to so many people, he retired not long ago, deserving a kong and happy rest, but instead he's VERY sick in Lewisham Hospital.

I am left heart broken at this news. He was more than just a teacher, he was a selfless mentor that truly did give everything to the education of his students.

I went to see him yesterday and he is not doing well.

If anyone knows him and wants more details please PM me.

Very sorry to hear that. I was at the girl's school so had relatively little contact with him but he was a tour de force whenever I did and helped and inspired generations of kids. Very sad to hear he isn't getting the retirement he deserves.

Several people have said similar today. That they didn't do much music or have much direct contact with him, but that he was such a personality you couldn't forget him.

He did so much for me in many ways that I just need to thank him and tell him what a big difference he made.

    • Wow - will do as you say - just find it extraordinary one needs to post something so trivial as this on forum - each to their own. Been a%member for a long time and know the-forum well - bought sold, given things way, had hubs and offered advice…
    • You do know that this post is the reason that forums exist? So that people can ask for help, advice etc.  I'm not sure what "...daughter of mothers"  means but if you mean friends, not everyone has friends, or is confident enough to ask other mums at the school. Oh and you it's nothing to do with your age -  be kind, be helpful or if you can't, leave it to someone who can.
    • We got our daughter's done at Superdrug. They have a designated, trained member of the team so it's not just a random shop assistant who does it.  It was fine, there's not much to say other than the piercings are in the right place and there's been no problems afterwards
