Yesterday, Tuesday 1st July, I left my flat to head to my office in town, where upon arriving I discovered one of my front door keys had disappeared into the ether of London. I called the dentist, where in the morning I had a filling (so feasibly it could have slipped out into the chair whilst being manhandled) and was told it wasn't there, or at the fruit and veg shop next door. A similar story greeted me at Charing Cross lost and found and again at the East Dulwich ticket kiosk upon my return last night. Confronted with an impending, desperate attempt to get in and cursing my stupidity, I turned right out of the station and glanced for some reason at the bin just outside. Upon it was a key that looked remarkably like the one I had lost. I picked it up, hoping that it was, went to my flat and to my amazement a disaster was averted.

If you were the person that found my key during the day around ED station and put it on the bin, I can't thank you enough. Make yourself known, I will even buy you a beer (be even better if you were a single lady!!)

In all seriousness thank you, it made me see quite how much I love ED and its folk. Having only been here for 18 months, after spending the past 8 years north of the river, it makes me feel settled and at home.

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
    • First mate - I wondered if I was imagining things at 4.45 this morning . Apparently not .
