Hi

I'm looking for a man and van to help me with a very light removal on Saturday (I'm moving from one furnished property to another so just have bags and boxes and a small collection of bedside tables!).

Moving from Herne Hill to Denmark Hill.

Does anyone have any recommendations of someone good and reasonably priced (any indications of price paid much appreciated)

Thanks very much

Hi Joanna,

I just used David this evening actually, who has a small van and helped me collect an item I bought on ebay and was very helpful indeed. He's ?25 an hour. He's friendly and reliable. I would definitely use him again. He's based in Forest Hill. perhaps try him. Contact is David Marshall, on 07972 596192. Or email: [email protected]. He is on the forum under Odd jobs and man and van. Good luck with your move.

Thanks very much everybody for the recommendations. I used Kevin (07818568095) as a couple of people suggested and would highly recommend him - he was really punctual, friendly and helpful. The van was more than big enough to cope with having about twice as much stuff as I thought and he was really nice about it! Price extremely reasonable too.

    • Michael Crick, the author who first uncovered this story in his recently published book on Farage was interviewed on the Today programme this morning and was clear that he could only get one person he interviewed, and that was unsubstantiated, to argue that the adult Farage was in any way currently racist, and he admitted he tried to get this ascertation from interviewees who otherwise couldn't stand Farage. Farage was clearly a contrarian as a school boy, and very possibly not very nice, but it is the man now, not the boy then, that should concern us. It is his current  policies, his competences and the key people in his party we should be focusing on, not 40 year old scuttlebut. That's just lazy.

    • Don't worry, he's only ever indirectly racially abused people and he's never done it in a hurtful or insulting way. It's very difficult to know isn't it? I mean, is the racist man known primarily for being a racist actually a racist if he says racism is funny? Gosh, tricky one...   Bit like that joke where the footballer calls the ref a **** and gets booked for it. Footballer is annoyed at this and says "well, what if I think it?" Ref says "well I can't stop you thinking can I?" Footballer says "cool, in that case, I think you're a ****" 😉
