Saffron
Does anyone know what's happening with this case: A city banker is to fight a test case over the Government?s crackdown on parents taking their children out of school during term time. James Haymore was summonsed to court after he refused to pay a ?120 fine for taking his children to America for six days at the start of the spring term for a memorial service for their great-grandfather. Mr Haymore, who works for JP Morgan, will argue that the decision to prosecute him for taking his three children out of school is a breach of the Human Rights Act. Since last September new rules have been imposed on parents, threatening them with a fine if they take their children out of lessons. Michael Gove, the Education Secretary, ended a policy that allowed schools to grant up to 10 days holiday a year to families in ?special circumstances.? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/10933533/City-banker-to-take-case-to-court-over-Goves-ban-on-term-time-holidays.html Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/47471-term-time-holiday-test-case/ Share on other sites
Mellors
Case was adjourned on 18 July until 10 October. My guessing is that it will run and run...
