Can you spare just an hour a week for 8 weeks? Then get involved with an exciting educational charity!

We place volunteer tutors in nearby secondary schools, to support pupils preparing for GCSEs on the C/D borderline in English, Maths or Science. Our aim is to help students leave school with 5 A*-C GCSEs including English and Maths, to increase their chances of going on to further education, employment or training. Help us bring the benefits of tuition to those who would not otherwise afford it.

We provide all volunteers training, resources and an enhanced DBS check if you need one. We award you for performance and there's a chance to become a Bronze, Silver or Gold tutor.

So far we are working with the following schools nearby (but are planning on adding more)

Coninsborough College - we need people on Saturday mornings at 10am, starting on the 20th September. There is a training session on the 11th September at 5pm.

City of London Academy (SE1 5LA) (mid September, times and dates tbc)

Applications are open now! Please fill in our short form: http://www.tfaforms.com/332860

Here?s what some of our recent volunteer tutors have said:

"Action Tutoring is the most rewarding tutoring you will do. The kids are enthusiastic, interested, and really appreciate the attention. It is a great project to be a part of."

    • Nice to see the property is going to reopen with a Newish business, good luck to them.
    • Of course they do, watching cookery shows and buying cook books is a national pastime. However you raise a good point that some people claim they are time poor and end up eating out / takeaways as sometimes a quick macciedee is cheaper and easier than making a quick nutrious family meal.  However to put it in balance, not many people have the knowledge, confidence and time to cook Persian so good luck to team persepolis on this venture.
    • London doesn’t have a lot of Argentinian places specialising in empanadas, which suggests demand isn’t that great. There are many neighbourhoods with none at all or even nearby.  So for a mini-chain like Chango (several branches in SW London) to open here where there’s already a well established family run place doing the same feels a bit off.  I’ll be giving Chacarero my ongoing custom.
