Able Group

I had a visit from one the Able Group?s workmen last week.

After the visit I phoned up and requested a call back from the Manager. I was promised this but I received no call. I was promised I would receive a call approx. half an hour prior to the workman (Daimon) arriving. I received no call. I was in the shower when he arrived. I was very embarrassed when I opened the door, and had to ask him to wait outside whilst I dressed. I was expected to sign a form to say he started at 10 am and finished at 10.20 am but at no time was I advised to look at my watch. He actually only took 5 mins maximum, and all he did was squirt WD40 onto the hinges of the window. (Something I could have easily have done myself, had I been advised that this was probably/possibly the problem when I initially phoned up.) I was charged ?100.80....I was shocked ! He said I needed to keep the window mechanism clean but he did not clean this mechanism for me, as one would assume would be part of the service. (I was told the 'strip and service' was ?84 plus VAT.....) The other 10 mins he spent on the phone taking a private call inside MY property. NOT very professional. I tried to ask him further questions about the window and my door but he remained on the phone as he left and did not seem to want to talk to me. He had a quick look at my back door, (prior to his phone call) saying it had 'dropped' and it would take a few minutes to fix. I asked him nicely if he could please do this, considering I'd paid him over ?100 for a 5 min job, but he said he couldn't as it wasn't on the paperwork, and he was 'going away' at 1pm....What if my window had been a longer, more complex problem ?? Ridiculous!

He said I'd have to go through the whole procedure again, (and pay out at least another ?100 for this!!!) I think this was the least he could have done bearing in mind all of the above. He did not even have any records to state that all my card details had been given already. The Able Group have refused to give me any guarantee for this work, I was told I would get a ?re-visit? in an email and then told I would not be, I asked for their CEOs details, this was not given, I?ve had calls from them and then they?ve hung up when I?ve answered the phone. I will be posting this on the East Dulwich Forum too.

    • Useful link, thanks. I see that neither of the Dulwich Hill councillors are standing again but one of the new Labour candidates for DH recently left the Lib Dems… The Greens are led by someone who left the Lib Dems and full of people who left Labour. Reform is full of those who left the Tories. And the Tories are full of those who left our planet some time ago. Confused? You will be!
    • I'm sorry to learn that though Liam does seems well qualified. Hopefully with McAsh gone, Southwark Labour will turn to Charlie to fill the gap.
    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
