Our home suffered from subsidence and was underpinned in 1982. We have therefore always had problems with exorbitant insurance quotes.

Having spent a couple of days researching the problem we obtained a building surveyors report from this company,

Engineers report and surveys.

Head Office

The Stables, rear of 60 The Avenue

SOUTHAMPTON SO17 1XS

tel: 023 8072 0780

fax: 023 8072 0788 email [email protected]

We then contacted several insurance brokers with details of insurance required and a copy of the structural survey.

The best quote was from the following company.

Commercial & General Insurance Services

Suite C10 Arena Business Centre

Nine Nimrod Way

Ferndown

Hope this helps

    • "Squander"? "Capricious folly"?
    • Strongly recommend Oskar and his excellent team- They've just completed the demolition and removal of our precarious cracked  brick boundary walls, fences and concrete paving in our exhausted front garden. They levelled the site and re-established the appropriate gradients with stone substrates before installing  excellent new paving, a new brick wall and new fencing - even approved by our neighbour- as well as new beds for our planting plans.  Oskar is a good communicator and kept us informed at all points, adjusting plans as necessary and always finding solutions.  Previous works by Oskars on the back garden 4 years ago were excellent and have stood the test of time. Strongly recommended.
    • if small family homes are priced at £2.000.000 in SE22 I suspect they are over priced.
    • That's exactly my point Ian. The council will collect on behalf of the government. Not on behalf of themselves. The government then decides how and where it is spent.  So poor people in Southwark might end up paying Southwark to collect the government's mansion tax and watch the government then squander that money anywhere else they see fit.  I really do hope the government reimburse the council for collecting this tax on their behalf.   As regards villas in Burbage road, I'm actually talking about two small family homes currently on sale on my road in Se22 for about £2m. No doubt neither will now be saleable and this government will miss out on £155,000 of stamp duty tax that will be payable on these mansions when they eventually sell under another government that cancels this capricious folly.
