'London' Screening

Enjoy an exploration of the Big Smoke in a free screening of London (Dir Patrick Keiller, 1994, UK, Cert U, 82 mins)

Patrick Keiller's film, perhaps best described as a visual essay, blends documentary footage of the capital with an ironic, sardonic voice-over from a fictional, disembodied narrator (Paul Schofield) who guides us through the images that he sees as he and his unseen friend Robinson tour the city in search of literary heritage and culture.

There'll also be a an eclectic selection of tunes from DJ Jean Marie, plus an array of seasonal refreshments available.

We'll be projecting onto a screen outside the shop, so you may want to bring a blanket and weather-proof clothes.

Although today perhaps a Sombrero!

This is a free event. No booking required.

    • I haven't had a rude EVRI delivery but last week I had an unexpected delivery at 10.42 pm. He didn't ring the bell or knock on the door (or rattle the letter flap) but just took a photo and put the box down.  If it hadnt been for the door camera giving us a beep we would never have known there was a parcel ready to sit there all night.
    • Sorry if I’m being slow but there’s no point in having a gate then is there?  Would have thought it was basic manners to respect someone’s property
    • I didn't say wedge it "slightly" open. I meant to wedge it fully open.
    • I have a rescue Spanish greyhound (galgo) from the charity mentioned above. You can contact Greyhounds in Need or one of the more local Kent greyhound rescue charities. They are fantastic family dogs. They do love walkies 2 or 3 times a day but they actually don't need to be walked too far and then they will happily loaf around on the sofa being very chill. They are brilliant with kids but not recommended if you own a cat as they have a strong prey drive. They also should be kept on the lead in local parks. They prefer to be around other sight-hounds (well my one does) and there are loads of local sighthound owners in Peckham, Crystal Palace etc and a very lively WhatsApp group that is brilliant if you need dog sitting as you can usually find someone to do that for free in return for you looking after the dog at a later date etc.
