We, like a lot of parents, use this car park every day when we drop off and pick up our son from nursery at Oakfield, given the severe lack of other parking space nearby. Today I got back to my car to find that someone had prised open my windows somehow and stolen a bag from the car -- something I found particularly shocking given I'd been gone for no more than 15 minutes tops and there were loads of other cars/ people about. I reported it to police and the bag (actually my baby's change bag) wasn't greatly valuable, but it is concerning that this space now seems to be a target for thieves. Do please be vigilant if you use this space too!

My daughter used to do tennis lessons there. A couple of years ago, whilst a bunch of us parents were sat in the tiny skate park, between the car park and tennis courts, watching the lesson progress one of the parents had her bag stolen from her car. The bag was on the rear seat and the thief had smashed a window and grabbed it.

Not great to leave the bag visible but we were all hardly any distance away and couldn't believe we didn't hear see anything :(

    • Someone had a worse day than you. Be grateful not to be involved.
    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
